About

Rare early Kellogg straight shaft desk stand with heavy cast base, marked Kellogg receiver. Milo Kellogg launched his company in 1897, several years after the Bell patents expired and built Kellogg into one of the most successful non-Bell telephone companies until it was acquired by ITT in 1952. Kellogg equipment was superior to most other independent providers and made Kellogg one of the very best equipment providers to compete with Bell telephones. Scans are from 1902 and 1903 Kellogg catalogs. This particular desk set has a sanitary glass "Red Cross" mouthpiece.  It could be boiled in hot water to disinfect and sanitize it.
