Western Electric Company model No. 21A “Erie” desk telephone

No. 21A straight shaft (Western Electric Company)
Western Electric Company
Outstanding original condition.

This may look like a common candlestick but it is one of the more rare Western Electric upright telephones because it was only made for about a year and there are very few of these that are known to still exist. It is the model No. 21A desk set, called the "Erie" model because it was made by Western Electric Company for the Erie Telephone & Telegraph Company in 1900. It was patterned after the Bell Wisconsin candlestick and is equipped with a White Solid Back transmitter and code no. 122 bipolar receiver. This telephone has lost some of its original nickel, but it is in outstanding original condition, including the original thin leather base plate under the base.
